The Regional Agricultural Fair-2023, also known as Parvatiya Krishak Maha Sangam Palampur-2023, was held at the playground of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya (CSKHPKV), Palampur, from April 17-19, 2023. Organized by CSKHPKV in collaboration with the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the three-day event aimed to promote agricultural advancements and improve the livelihoods of farmers in mountainous regions.
The Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, Shri Kishori Lal, highlighted the significance of the fair in advancing agricultural innovations. Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary showcased the university's achievements and emphasized that the fair was being held after a gap of a decade. He also announced that CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University had secured the eighth position among agricultural universities in India.
A key highlight of the event was the appointment of 56 progressive farmers as Krishi Doots, who shared their experiences and knowledge with fellow farmers and youth. The university’s fruit nursery, which supplies plants to farmers within the state and beyond, was also showcased. The fair featured exhibitions of improved crop varieties, climate-resilient farming techniques, and sustainable agricultural solutions tailored for hill farming. Live demonstrations, farmer-scientist interactions, and policy discussions focused on improving productivity, promoting organic farming, and enhancing market linkages.
The Parvatiya Krishak Maha Sangam Palampur-2023 successfully reinforced the commitment to strengthening mountain agriculture and empowering farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary for sustainable growth.
